Aristotle vs. Linnaeous:

Aristotle created the first system of classification of animals and plants, by habitat or structure.

​

Linnaeous created the Binomial Nomenciature, which breaks down to 

Bi= 2

Nomial = Name 

Nomenciature = naming system

Class

Order 

Family Genus

Species

The connection between these two helps to group animals and plants in different ways.

Scientific Names:

Are used to put a name on an animal which corresponds to genius and species, which allows us to communicate with others around the world.

Taxonomic Keys:

The short term is Taxonomy key.

This helps you identify what you are looking at by the traits that you are looking at.   Example:  Is the organism multicellular or is it unicellular (one).

Cladograms:

It is one creature against other creatures, that creature does not have the feature that all the rest has.

Example:  Hag fish has no jaw, but a perch has a jaw, but the perch does not have lungs, but a salamander does.
