The dorsal fin keeps the fish upright and stable. The dorsal fin is located on dorsal view near the posterior end.

The anal fin helps keep the fish in a straight line. The anal fin is located ventral view near the posterior end.

The pelvic fin comes in pairs. This helps the fish to stop and move up and down. The pelvic fins are located on the ventral view near the Anterior end.

Fish have scales that helps prevent water loss as well as protection. Fish scales are also can tell you the age of a fish like a tree.

Not only do they have fins but they also have a operculum. The operculum is a hard covering that protects the gills. it closes when water goes in the mouth and opens when water comes out of the gills.
