Plants have many different things about them then animals don't have. Some of these Adaptations are the xylem. A xylem carries water and inorganic nutrients from the roots to the stems and leaves. A xylem allows water and inorganic nutrients to flow one-way. Not only do plants have a xylem but they also have phloem. A phloem  helps  transports food and nutrients  that can travel up and down the plant.
There are five different types of roots.
Primary roots come out of the seed. It is the first root.
Taproots are thicker primary roots with small secondary roots growing off of it. This can be seen in carrots, radishes and other plants.
Fibrous roots is when the primary root branches off into smaller roots .  Fibrous roots can be seen in grass.
Aerial roots that absorb moisture and are exposed to the air. like in trees and Spanish moss.
Adventitious roots are specialized roots that grow directly from a stem above the ground. Adventitious roots are like corn.
