Reptiles respiratory system exchanges oxygen and carbon dioxide the the reptiles environment. Their lungs increase in surface area. Air sacs that make up their lungs that increases their surface area. When a reptile breathes their rib cage expands when they inhale and when they exhale their rib cage contracts. Snakes lungs are non-functioning on their left side and their right side is half the length of their body.
