Digestive system of a bird starts at the mouth and then to the esophagus and then to the crop.   The crop is the storage place for food where it is moistened and then goes to the two part stomach, which is the proventriculus and gizzard.    The proventriculus is where the digestion starts.  The gizzard helps kneed the food, like dough.    Before the bird eats, it will eat pebbles which help crush food in the birds gizzard.    The food goes to the small intestines where at this point most of the food is absorbed, digested, and then broken down by bile and enzymes.    The next step, it then goes to the large intestines where waste is separated from nutrients and water is absorbed.   After the large intestines it then goes to the cloaca, this is where everything comes together.
